Lakeshore Elementary

Lakeshore Elementary is home to the district’s only elementary Spanish Immersion program, hosts the W.O.W. (West Ottawa Wonders) Preschool for children ages three to four in English and Spanish, as well as the YMCA Child Care program which provides before school, after school, and all day child care. Lakeshore also provides extended learning opportunities through advanced math placement courses as well as many after-school club opportunities. MeetMrs. Jernigan

Though this year will be my 16th employed at West Ottawa Public Schools, it will officially be my 28th as a Panther. As a child, my family moved to West Ottawa in the 6th grade and I am a PROUD graduate of the class of 1998. Fast forward to now; my own family lives here and both my daughters will graduate from W.O. as well. I attended Michigan State University and earned a bachelors degree in Mathematics, with minor in Spanish. After college, my husband and I came back to Holland where, for the past 15 years, I served as a math teacher and Assistant Principal at West Ottawa High School. I bleed Black and White, and am a proud Panther for Life. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, watching MSU football and basketball, and cooking with my daughters. I am excited to be a part of the Lakeshore Elementary team and to continue their mission of excellence for Every Student, Every Day.

Lakeshore met and exceeded our expectations at every turn. The staff is highly qualified and deeply cares about every student and family. We have always been encouraged to participate in our children's education and kept informed of needs, concerns, and achievements. The PTO is active and always seeking to improve Lakeshore for staff and students by providing funds and resources that are beyond the WO budget.
