ElementaryWaukazoo Elementary School

Waukazoo Elementary offers multiple options and programs for all K – 5 students. The building provides extended learning opportunities through an advanced math placement course, SAIL programming for traditional 3rd – 5th grade students, multiple classrooms that implement Montessori methods (Kinder, Lower (1st-3rd), & Upper (4th-5th)), and the after school Panther Pathways programming. Parents of Waukazoo Elementary students also have access to school and student information through the district’s online Parent Portal platform.

After earning a teaching certificate through Grand Valley State University’s Graduate Teacher Certification program, I began a career with West Ottawa Public Schools. I had the honor to teach English at the high school level for seven years. Following my time as a classroom teacher, I served as an Assistant Principal at West Ottawa High School for four years. I now have the privilege of serving as the Principal of Waukazoo Elementary. During all of my educational experiences, students have and will always continue to be my first priority. I love walking alongside them as they reach their goals, through fun and difficult times. Waukazoo is a special place with creative, student-first educators that truly value a balance between loving students and encouraging their academic achievement. Montessori education at Waukazoo offers a unique program to families in the West Ottawa district- Montessori education paired with the benefits of a traditional elementary school. Our teachers follow the child in their learning journey and guide them in their studies along the way. The relationship built with teachers and peers in the Montessori classroom encourages a student to find a lifelong love of learning. As principal of the Montessori program at West Ottawa, I am honored to witness the dedication of our teachers as they strive to embody the spirit of Maria Montessori in their everyday teaching of our students.
