I'm extremely pleased with WOPS. With a graduate from the Class of 2018 and a current student in the Class of 2021, I've enjoyed the entire K-12 experience. West Ottawa has the infrastructure, resources, and people to support a diverse student population and all of their interests. There is truly something for everyone.Tavan Hendrick
Your child’s path to college and career readiness begins with Young Kindergarten or Kindergarten and continues through graduation. Your neighborhood school is a place to call home during grades K-5. Each elementary school feeds into either Macatawa Bay Middle School or Harbor Lights Middle School. Grade 6 students are educated together with specialized transition programs at each middle school prior to entering the 7th and 8th grade schedule. These middle school learning communities combine to enter the award winning West Ottawa High School Campus in 9th grade. Parents of any neighborhood school may request that their child attend a school outside their attendance area by completing an Internal School of Choice Application. On the shores of picturesque Lake Michigan, Ottawa County is home to more than 5,000 acres of county parks, 307 miles of rivers and streams, and two state parks. With easy access to downtown Holland, shopping, dining and recreation are just around the corner. Up for a quick drive? Head to burgeoning downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan, or take a day trip to Chicago—less than three hours away. The small town feel paired with ease of access to both green space and the big city make Ottawa County a great place to call home. Beaches, bike trails, Holland State Park and world-renowned festivals like Tulip Time are just a few of the reasons many of our teachers and staff choose to live and work right here in our district.
