Sheldon Woods Elementary

Sheldon Woods Elementary provides a wide range of opportunities and programs for all Preschool through 5th grade students. As West Ottawa’s “Farmstead and Forest” elementary school, we offer unique learning experiences that connect students to the natural world, through outdoor kindergarten, hands-on agricultural learning, and real-life experiences with our chickens, greenhouse, and garden, with even more to come. Parents of West Ottawa students have access to school and student information through the district’s online Parent Portal. Sheldon Woods also provides extended learning opportunities, including advanced math placement in fifth grade. We pride ourselves on the strong partnership we have built between school and home. With the support of our dedicated staff, families, and PTO, our students come to a school where a lifelong love of learning is nurtured and where they discover the impact they can make.

Dear Sheldon Woods Families,

My name is Stephany Deiters, and I am honored to serve as the Principal of Sheldon Woods Elementary. I’ve had the privilege of being part of the West Ottawa community for many years, as a classroom teacher and most recently as Assistant Principal at Harbor Lights Middle School, and I am incredibly excited to now lead this amazing school.

Sheldon Woods is a special place, and we are continuing to grow something truly unique here. As our district’s “Farmstead and Forest” elementary school, we are creating opportunities for students to learn through hands-on, real-world experiences. From caring for our chickens to exploring our greenhouse and garden, students are able to connect their learning to the world around them. In the near future, we are looking forward to adding goats and a wildflower field to further expand these opportunities.

At Sheldon Woods, our goal is to meet every student where they are and provide an environment where they feel supported, challenged, and inspired each day. We are proud of the strong sense of community that exists here, and I am grateful to partner with our families to help every child grow—academically, socially, and emotionally.

I look forward to getting to know each of you and working together to make Sheldon Woods an incredible place for our students.
