I joined West Ottawa Public Schools in 1999 and served as a teacher and principal at the middle school level for nineteen years. For the first six years, I was an 8th grade Social Studies teacher at Macatawa Bay Middle School and continued with that position for another five years at Harbor Lights Middle School. After earning my Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Grand Valley State University, I transitioned to an administrative role. For eight years, I was able to serve as the principal of Harbor Lights and had the opportunity to work with many Sheldon Woods families. I have always been impressed with their dedication to education and willingness to work with all stakeholders for the good of the community.
I am honored now to be able to serve as the principal of Sheldon Woods Elementary School. I feel privileged to be part of a community that is committed to meeting the needs of all students in a safe and nurturing environment. As the principal of Sheldon Woods, I will support our families and staff as they continue to work together to create amazing opportunities for our students. The result of this partnership will be a school in which everyone feels welcomed, respected and excited to come do their best every day. I believe strongly that in order for our partnership to work, I must maintain open lines of communication. Therefore, I will have an open door policy and be available to discuss any ideas you may have in regards to the continued success of Sheldon Woods.
Sheldon Woods is West Ottawa's best kept secret. Our teachers and staff always give 120%. The students are great and the small size of our school allows each class to have a unique bond. Our parent community is exceptional. Sheldon Woods is truly a family and I'm thankful for these elementary years at Sheldon Woods.Jamie Dirkse, parent
There is nothing better than to send your child to a school that feels like a second home; where you know staff by name, where volunteering is fun, and where the community invests not only for the benefit of your child in school, but also always going the extra mile to make sure needs are met at home! Life is definitely Good in the Woods.Angie Dick, parent
