Mr. Stefanich joined West Ottawa Public Schools in 2004 as a 6th Grade English teacher. After teaching one year at Harbor Lights he transitioned to teaching 4th grade at Great Lakes Elementary. While at Great Lakes Elementary Mr. Stefanich worked to get his Master’s degree from Western Michigan University in Educational Leadership. In the summer of 2010, Mr Stefanich was named principal of Great Lakes and he absolutely loves his position. Mr. Stefanich believes that the students and staff at Great Lakes make this an ideal school to work in. Mr. Stefanich has four children, three of which attend Great Lakes Elementary. His family lives in the West Ottawa community and are dedicated to ensuring that West Ottawa Public Schools continues to provide a world class education for all students.
Our family has intentionally chosen to send our children to Great Lakes since kindergarten. This school is a true cross-section of our community, and represents our diverse backgrounds and cultures like no where else. The Great Lakes teachers have continuously gone above and beyond for our kids, and I can say, without a doubt, that our children are better off from the experiences they've had at Great Lakes.Ryan Jernigan, parent
Great Lakes is the most accurate representation of the West Ottawa community from a cultural, racial and socioeconomic perspective. I am very pleased with how diverse the Great Lakes Elementary student body is, and I think it will prepare any and all who attend for great things to come in the Middle School, High School and 'Real World' years!Nate Price, former student and current parent
