Welcome to Mac Bay Middle School! 

My name is Jake Manning and I am honored to serve students and staff at Macatawa Bay Middle School as their principal. As a parent of five West Ottawa students (and future Mac Bay students!) My wife and I have felt incredibly blessed to be a part of West Ottawa since 2018. 

I grew up in Kalamazoo, attended Hope College, and taught, coached, and served as an AP at Godfrey Lee, Grandville, Mona Shores, Hope College, and have been at West Ottawa High School since 2018. When I began teaching in 2009, I committed to teaching, serving, and leading with light. My goal is to bring the hope I have for my students into every conversation, teaching moment, and day that I spend as an educator. I aim to bring this hope into my role as principal at Mac Bay. 

At Mac Bay, our students learn from some of the most amazing teachers and staff members in the world. One common commitment we share is to bring our best each day and to look out for one another. We know that Panther PRIDE really boils down to these two commitments. 

If we don’t aim for perfection, but rather the daily and moment-to-moment choice of bringing our full, authentic self and our best attitude and mindset to each moment, we will all grow and flourish. Similarly, if we commit to look out for one another by honoring and respecting all others then Mac Bay will continue to grow into a school where all are welcome and grow. 

This is the type of school we are committed to becoming at Mac Bay Middle School. This is our school! And you’re welcome here, too.
