West Ottawa Public Schools offers both Prekindergarten and Kindergarten programs for children who will be five years old on or before September 1, 2017 for the 2017-18 school year. Waiver forms are available for children turning 5 between September 1 and December 1.
Our Kindergarten Showcase for 2017-2018 Kindergarten enrollment will be held on January 19, 2017, at 6 P.M. at all West Ottawa elementary schools. For more information regarding Kindergarten, please contact your elementary school.
Young Kinders is a full-day every day program with locations at various locations based on enrollment.
Kindergarten is a full-day every day program offered at each of our elementary schools.
All children are screened prior to placement. Screening takes place during the months of May and June. You will be contacted by the school to set up an appointment for the screening.

Spanish Immersion Kindergarten is a full-day every day program offered at Lakeshore Elementary School.
Montessori Kindergarten is a full-day every day program offered at Waukazoo Elementary School.

2017-2018 Kindergarten Enrollment: For families with older students currently enrolled at West Ottawa, please sign into your Parent Portal account to enroll your kindergarten student and older student(s) for the 2017-18 school year. New families will need to complete Online Registration for New Families. Please select 17-18 School Year when choosing the school year for enrollment to ensure the enrollment is properly assigned.
For New Families to West Ottawa:
2017-2018 K-12 Enrollment: Online registration for 2017-18 is open. Please complete Online Registration for New Families and select 17-18 school year enrollment from the dropdown menu when asked to select the school year for which you are enrolling. If you do not have an email address, please complete registration through the Online Registration Kiosk.
2017-2018 Preschool Enrollment: Preschool enrollments are completed on paper forms at the school building. Please visit an elementary school building to enroll in preschool.
2016-2017 K-12 Enrollment: Please complete Online Registration for New Families and select current year enrollment from the dropdown menu when asked to select the school year for which you are enrolling. If you do not have an email address, please complete registration through the Online Registration Kiosk.

After completing online enrollment, parents must complete the enrollment process in person. You will need to submit the following:
- Certified copy of your child’s birth certificate. An Identify Affidavit is available if you are unable to provide us with a copy of your child’s birth certificate.
- Current record of all immunizations from your healthcare provider. Students enrolling in Kindergarten will need a hearing and vision test.
- Two proofs of residency.
For Existing Students:
2017-2018 Pre-enrollment online: Notification for 2017-2018 online registration will be sent in the spring from the school buildings via parent portal and school newsletters. If you have any questions, please contact your school office. If you do not have a Parent Portal account, please complete the request form located on our Parent Portal webpage.
Schools of Choice
Internal Schools of Choice
Parents of resident students may request that their child attend a school outside their attendance area by completing an Internal Schools of Choice Application form.
- Internal Schools of Choice requests will be honored based on space and availability in the school requested.
- Once approved, the Internal Schools of Choice student will be grandfathered into the requested school. The Schools of Choice student’s place in their assigned attendance area is now vacant and will be filled by other requests. If the Schools of Choice student requests to return to their assigned attendance area, placement will be based upon space and availability.
- Transportation for Schools of Choice children is the parents’ responsibility.

Through the OAISD Schools of Choice Program, non-resident students may apply to attend West Ottawa Public Schools by completing a Non-Resident School of Choice Application for 2017-2018
