Internal Schools of Choice

Parents of resident students may request that their child attend a school outside their attendance area by completing an Internal Schools of Choice Application form.

  1. Internal Schools of Choice requests will be honored based on space and availability in the school requested.
  2. Once approved, the Internal Schools of Choice student will be grandfathered into the requested school. The Schools of Choice student’s place in their assigned attendance area is now vacant and will be filled by other requests. If the Schools of Choice student requests to return to their assigned attendance area, placement will be based upon space and availability.
  3. Transportation for Schools of Choice children is the parents’ responsibility.

The Internal Schools of Application form is included in our online registration application. If a student is already enrolled and would like to request a transfer, please download and complete one of the following:

External Schools of Choice

West Ottawa Public Schools is pleased to offer Schools of Choice for non-resident students who qualify. The State Aid Act allows districts to enroll non-resident students through Section 105 and 105c.  Section 105 permits local school districts to enroll students who reside in other local school districts within the same intermediate school district.  Section 105c allows enrollment of students who reside in school districts in contiguous intermediate school districts.  West Ottawa will accept unlimited enrollment of non-resident students through Section 105 and 105c.

Applications for the 2017.18 school year will be accepted from May 24 – September 7, 2017.

If you would like to apply for Schools of Choice, please begin the application process by submitting a completed  pdficon_small Non-Resident Enrollment Application.  Applications may be returned via hand delivery, US Mail or email.  See the application form for further details.  Upon acceptance, you will be asked to complete the online enrollment process.

Program or building preference cannot be guaranteed with acceptance.
