Thompson M-Tec of Holland:  Thompson M-Tec of Holland has many post-high school training programs, including certifications in CNA (Certified Nurse Assistant), Dental Assisting, Heating and Cooling (HVAC-R), Welding, Robotics, Medical Assisting, Accounting, and many more. Many programs can be completed in less than a year. Michigan Works can help with funding for certification programs if you meet eligibility requirements (see Michigan Works below). Michigan Works:  Michigan Works! Is a non-profit organization that aims to support Michigan’s workforce by:

  • Advancing the interests of the Michigan Works! System through advocacy and participation in the legislative process
  • Providing training and networking opportunities for leaders and members

Training that is available to recent high-school graduates includes assistance with resume writing and connecting prospective employees with employers. Michigan Works will also help fund post-high school training for recent graduates (certificate and Associate’s degree programs) for those who meet eligibility requirements. Manpower:  Manpower is an employment agency whose aim it is to connect prospective employees with employers for temporary work assignments in the manufacturing and office/clerical sectors.  They are offering a unique opportunity for their employees: Manpower will pay for online college classes taken through accredited Western International University (based in Arizona) as long as they are working through Manpower. Employees can take one online class every eight weeks and may keep the credits they earn even if they cease employment with Manpower (without having to repay Manpower for the classes). There are six degree programs offered: Associate in Business, B.A. in Behavioral Science, B.A. in Human Resource Management, B.S in Accounting, B.S. in Business Administration, B.S. in Information Technology Management, B.S. in Management.
