Yes, We Have A School Nurse!

For the past several years, Holland Hospital has partnered with West Ottawa Public Schools to provide the School Nurse Program to our elementary school.

School Nurse Program Mission is to facilitate healthy learners in the schools. The Health Room Staff:

Evaluate students who are ill or injured
Assist students with Chronic Conditions such as Asthma, Diabetes, Life-Threatening Allergies or Seizures to participate fully in the school day and manage their illnesses
Consult with staff regarding concerns about students, care for themselves and health information
Offer Health Education for Students, Families and Staff. Every Visit is an Opportunity!
Collaborate with school staff and Community Resources
Assist medically underserved families to obtain needed health care.
Encourage healthy habits by coming to the classroom with demonstrations on topics such as hand washing, nutrition and healthy habits.
Administer prescribed medication
