Becoming a Guest (Substitute)Teacher

The students of West Ottawa Public Schools need YOU!

Guest teachers are needed each day to substitute in classrooms throughout the District at the elementary and secondary levels.

West Ottawa Public Schools, along with most other Ottawa and Kent County districts, are using PESG (Professional Education Services Group) to hire substitute teachers. Those interested in guest teaching must first register with PESG before they can utilize the AESOP (Automated Employee Substitute OPerator) system, which provides access to available positions.

Please note that guest teachers must also register to guest teach at the Ottawa Area Intermediate School District (OAISD), located at 13565 Port Sheldon Road.

In addition to registering at the ISD, all guest teachers are required to be fingerprinted and to complete Global Compliance Network modules. West Ottawa accepts certified teachers.

The base pay for guest teachers is:

Days 1-15 - $75.00 per day or $37.50 per half-day
Days 16-60 - $95.00 per day or $47.50 per half day

Days do not have to be contiguous or in the same position.
Days requirement count is based on a school year.
