To those students who did not get cast 

First of all, thank you so much for trying out for Annie, Jr..  I know that you are very disappointed and I’m really sorry that we couldn’t use ALL of you in the show.  Around 200 kids tried out for 50 spots in the cast.  We simply couldn’t use everyone. 

So why didn’t I get cast? 

Below are some of the reasons that students didn’t get picked for this years show: 

Not Prepared – Some students did not attend the informational meeting or contact Mr. Huber, Mrs. Ledet, or Mr. Pike about what was expected.  Some students did not learn the song or appear to practice their song before auditioning. 

Not enough volume – Although everyone had a nice singing voice, some students sang very softly.  The Performing Arts Center is very large and it is important to have students who can sing out. 

Difficult time learning the dance – Since this show has A LOT of dancing in it, we were looking for students who had a good sense of rhythm and could learn movement quickly.  Some students had a difficult time with this part of the audition. 

Difficulty following directions – We asked some students to sing or dance again but change their expression or actions.  Some students had trouble following directions or changing their performance.  It is important to be able to adapt and change as an actor. 

Expression – Some students had a hard time smiling and looking like they were having fun (I know you were scared).  We were looking for students who looked like they were having a good time.  

Conflicts – Some students had rehearsal conflicts which we thought would hinder the show and the other actors.

Please, DO NOT get discouraged.  There are some students who have tried out 3 years in a row and finally got a part!
