West Ottawa High School partners with J.R. Automation in support of 30 high school students who design and build a robot to compete in the annual FIRST competition held in March and April. As you peruse our website, we hope you will

About FIRST
“For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology.”, (FIRST), was founded in 1989 by Dean Kamen, the famous entrepreneur who invented many modern marvels, such as the Segway Human Transporter. He saw that the world was heading in such a direction that science and technology were rapidly growing in importance. Noting that the current output of scientists and engineers in the world would not be sufficient, he set out to inspire youth to pursue education and careers in these fields. Thus, FIRST was born.
