The cost for the Kindergarten Enrichment program for the 2011-12 school year is approximately $10.00 per day and must be paid in advance.

Kindergarten Enrichment Program

West Ottawa is pleased to offer an exciting program for children enrolled in our kindergarten and Young Kinders classes. The half-day Kindergarten Enrichment program will engage children in activities and extensions of the kindergarten curriculum that will strengthen academic success.

Planned programming includes:

  • Oral language
  • Phonemic awareness
  • Language arts
  • Music and creative movement
  • Small group work
  • Social interaction
  • Physical education
  • Interventions

Staffing

Each program will be staffed with a paraprofessional educator with ongoing input from other members of the West Ottawa staff, including teachers and administrators.

Enrollment

Enrollment begins February 1 each year.  Enrollment packets are available at all elementary school buildings or the administration office.

Transportation

Children living in the attendance areas that house the Kindergarten Enrichment program will be transported on the regular bus runs. Parents will need to provide transportation for children attending the Kindergarten Enrichment program through Schools of Choice.

Location

Locations will be determined based on interest and enrollment.

School Day Details

The Kindergarten Enrichment program follows the same daily schedule as grades one through five. Children will attend their regular kindergarten or Young Kinders class for half the day and spend the other half in the enrichment classroom.

The Kindergarten Enrichment program will only be in session on days when a child's kindergarten or Young Kinders class meets.

Lunches may be brought from home or purchased at school.
