It is the mission of the West Ottawa Public Schools to facilitate the quality childcare and preschools needs of the children and families we serve by implementing a safe, consistent learning environment which enables intellectual, social, and physical growth for present and future students.

Kinder Cubs (Ages 21/2-4 and K)

Kinder Cubs provides ½ day care for kindergarten students and transportation to/from all West Ottawa elementary schools. Provides full day care for children ages 2 ½ through 4. Breakfast, lunch, and snack served daily. Planned curriculum is compatible with kindergarten classes as well as providing a fun and energetic play place. Childcare is available on days when there is no school. FIA assistance to those who qualify.

Panther Place (Grades 1-6)

Panther place isa before and after school program located in 6 of the West Ottawa Elementary schools with transportation provided to/from other schools. Breakfast and snack served daily. Activities include games, arts and crafts, as well as homework assistance. Childcare is available on days when there is no school. FIA assistance available to those who qualify.

Summer Childcare (Age 5 - Grade 7)

Our Summer Childcare Program serves all children, ages 2 ½ through students entering the 7th grade. Summer care provides curriculum and thematic based activities, games, arts and crafts, field trips, as well as serving breakfast, lunch, and snack. FIA assistance available to those who qualify.

W.O.W. Preschool (Ages 3-5)

West Ottawa Wonders Preschool serves students ages 3-5. Located in Lakeshore Elementary, this non co-op preschool offers morning or afternoon classes. Running from September through May, the preschool addresses all areas of development including social, emotional, intellectual, and physical. Areas of emphasis include aesthetics, construction, language, fine motor, gross motor, pretend play, sensory, cognition, and social interaction.

Panther Paws (Great Start Readiness Program)

This program is tuition-free to families that qualify and are accepted into the program. You may want to consider sending your child to the Panther Paws Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) if:

  • Your child is 4 by December 1 of the program year
  • Your child resides in the West Ottawa Public Schools District
  • Your child and/or your family qualify for at least two state determined factors.

A child in the GSRP program will have experiences in initiative, social relations, creative representation, music, movement, language and literacy, and hands-on mathematics.

Children meet for half day sessions Monday through Thursday during the program year (September - May). The GSRP program is located in our Early Childhood Center at Pine Creek Elementary School. Transportation is not provided.
