Goals and Objectives

At WOHS we are working to deliver a curriculum that prepares our students for living effectively today and in the future.  This means our curricula reflect the requirements set forth in the State of Michigan Essential Goals and Objectives for the various subjects taught.

The West Ottawa School District also abides by ten Learner Exit Outcomes (LEOs) for all high school graduates.

Our Graduates Will Be:

  • Complex Thinkers
  • Flexible Adapters
  • Problem Solvers
  • Effective Communicators
  • Cooperative and Collaborative Workers
  • Self-Directed Achievers
  • Responsible and Involved Citizens
  • Skilled and Active Learners
  • Caring Individuals
  • Innovative, Quality Producers

LEOs provide direction for the development of district curricula and instructional techniques.

Over the last decade, each academic area has been enhanced and realigned with the state's core curriculum recommendations, new state mandates, and the district's LEOs. In an effort to meet the individual needs of our students, over fifty new course offerings have been added to the High School curriculum in the last several years. These include advanced placement courses, honors courses, and a broad range of elective opportunities.
