West Ottawa Board of Education Seeks Candidates to Fill Seat Vacancy

West Ottawa Board of Education member Douglas A. Mahn tendered his resignation from the Board after serving on it for 14 ½ years.  Therefore, the Board of Education of West Ottawa Public Schools is seeking candidates for appointment to fill a vacancy on the Board. 

All qualified and interested applicants should submit by noon on Friday, March 9, 2018, a letter of interest and resume addressed to the Secretary for the Board, West Ottawa Public Schools, Administration Office Building, 1138 136th Avenue, Holland, MI  49424, or by email to  An individual is eligible for election as a school board member if the individual is a citizen of the United States and is a qualified and a registered voter in the West Ottawa school district.

The school board plans to interview all interested candidates on Monday, March 19, 2018, at a special publicly held board meeting, fill the vacancy by a majority vote, and will swear the person into office at the regular March 19, 2018, board meeting.  The person appointed to fill   the vacancy will hold the seat until the next regular school board election in November of 2018.

Mahn served as the vice president of the West Ottawa Public Schools Board of Education for 2 years and the secretary for 6 ½ years.
